what you might have been"
I’m a licensed psychotherapist, psychoanalyst and yoga instructor. I see individuals and couples, covering a variety of issues, including: stress, anxiety, eating disorders, grief and loss, trauma, addictions, relationship difficulties, creative blocks, life transitions and many others.
I believe everyone is unique and therefore I utilize a variety of approaches to support each individual, including: psychodynamic and insight oriented therapy as well as cognitive behavioural therapy, stress management and mindfulness.
When there’s interest I combine yogic principles and therapeutic yoga sessions in conjunction with talk therapy to help you bring awareness to the body, connect, tune in and process memories, experiences and emotions that live within your body.
My style is warm, compassionate, non-judgmental and direct. I strive to offer a safe space for you to explore your mind and look at old patterns that might no longer serve you. My goal is to help you gain insight and practical tools to live a richer fuller life.
I have received extensive education and training in psychotherapy and contemporary psychoanalysis. I completed my BA in psychology at Hunter College and received my graduate degree from NYU. I also completed a 4 year post graduate training in contemporary psychoanalysis at the National Institute for the Psychotherapies, where I received the Educators Award for outstanding scholarly contribution.
Prior to private practice my experience included providing individual and couple psychotherapy at the National Institute for the Psychotherapies outpatient clinic, individual and group psychotherapy at CSEDNY outpatient substance abuse clinic and group therapy at Lenox Hill inpatient Psych unit.
